Accommodations while training at CLAA
Cooking Lake offers student accommodations at a nearby (approx. 15 minute drive) home in Sherwood Park. Sherwood Park is a metropolitan community just on the outskirts of Edmonton (a major metropolitan city). Having our accommodations in town vs at our site allows the student to be near major shopping centres, local attractions (swimming pools, hockey arenas, movie theatres, libraries fast food restaurants, close to public transportation linking to Edmonton, etc.). and not stuck at the local airport miles away from a town. We offer transportation to and from the Academy at a very reasonable rate of $20.00/week.
Description of the accommodations:
- Rooms are individual and include a queen size bed, closet (or hutch ), computer desk, side table and lamp.
- Main floor is hard wood floor including bedrooms. The kitchen and bathroom floors are covered with new linoleum flooring.
- Kitchen includes a large fridge, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, stove and oven.
- Cutlery, Dishes, Cups, Mugs, basic cooking utensils are also provided. It is the responsibility of the residents to ensure all cooking and eating utensils are cleaned properly after each use. A automatic dishwasher is provided for this purpose, hand washing of pots and pans, etc. is expected also.
- Full bathroom upstairs including a bathtub and shower and sink. This is a shared bathroom, all residents must agree to maintain cleanliness of this and all facilities of the home at all times. Failure to do so can result in expulsion from the residence.
- Washer and Dryer (downstairs), CLAA does not provide washing detergents, fabric softeners, bleaches, etc.
- All rooms are first come, first serve (sizes of rooms varies but each includes basis amenities listed above).
- Bed and Bedding are provided including sheets, pillow, bed spread and blanket. All next to skin items are professionally dry cleaned before each new use.
- Bathroom towels, face cloths, etc. are not provided.
- Utilities included are : light, water, gas, cable TV, wireless internet (password protected).
- CLAA does not provide telephone services at this residence as most students prefer to use their own cellular phone services or skype type internet services.
Accommodation Costs:
Monthly rate: $600.00
Daily rate: $50.00/night
Weekly transportation fee $20.00 (for transport to and from the academy only).
Transportation to other locations (can be arranged and will be charged at $00.50/Km). CLAA suggests the use of local transportation (public bus, taxi, etc.).
CLAA can provide a bicycle to any student for the cost of $80.00 (local amenities are within 2 minutes by bike). Please let us know if you wish to purchase a low cost bike.
Accommodations Rules:
- Rooms are individual and include a queen size bed, closet (or hutch ), computer desk, side table and lamp.
- All students/renters must sign a rental agreement
- All students will respect the wishes of the other occupants of the home and the home attendant at all times.
- These accommodations are for active flying students only, students not maintaining 25 hrs/month flight schedules will be charged an extra $100.00/month.
- There is no smoking, drugs permitted in the home. Use of any illegal substance will result in immediate expulsion from the facilities and all persons conducting illegal activies will be reported to the police.
- Smoking is permitted outside of the home only, all cigarette butts are to be put into the provided butt bin.
- This home is shared living accommodations, you agree to maintain cleanliness of the home at all times. If you do not maintain cleanliness, your flying account will be charged a $100.00 cleaning fee per month of stay at the discretion of the landlord and you may be expelled from the home and removed the program you are enrolled in.
- All students agree to clean the bathroom after each shave, shower and use of toilet.
- All students agree to keep the kitchen, bathroom and personal belongings in a neat and clean order at all times.
- No pets/animals of any kind are permitted (dogs, cats, rodents, reptiles, etc).
- All students will be responsible for any visitors, friends that you may bring to the residence including any and all damages caused by these visitors.
- When I move out I will leave the home in the same condition as when I moved in.
- All students staying at the home accept that this residence is for students who are learning how to fly, good rest is essential to learning to fly aircraft. Any noise waking students from sleep or rest is prohibited. We highly suggest the use of headphones when listening to music or any activities requiring or making noise.
- Use of the common area TV is not permitted after 10:00 PM daily, unless approved by the home attendant.
- Any questions or concerns should be address to the home attendant first and then the landlord immediately.
- Students must be aware of local, provincial and federal laws including the prohibition of drinking and driving, prohibition of drunkenness in a public place, prohibition of the use of illegal drugs and substances. CLAA reports all illegal activities to the local RCMP. A pamphlet will be provided in each room kit.
- CLAA is a zero tolerance employer for drugs and alcohol on the worksite or while flying as a student/member.
- I realize I will be expelled from the student accommodations and possibly the program I am enrolled in if I break any of these rules.
